Position Summary...

This role is responsible for supporting the execution and oversight of the license and permits compliance program, ensuring all required licenses and permits are obtained and maintained in accordance with relevant standards. The Senior Analyst – License and Permits Compliance is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring regulatory compliance with all applicable licensing and permit requirements across business operations. The role provides subject matter expertise, analysis, and strategic recommendations to mitigate compliance risks, enhance operational efficiency, and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities.

What you'll do...

The role supports the execution of the license and permits compliance program, ensuring all required documentation is in accordance with company standards. Monthly audits are performed to ensure compliance, including a review of supporting documentation. Relationships with business units and regulatory agencies are developed and maintained to facilitate licensing processes and reduce disruptions. The role actively participates in the implementation of global projects and deliverables related to licenses and permits.

This role ensures compliance with guidelines and regulations by responding to compliance-related issues, providing support and training to mitigate issues, and acting as a liaison between regulatory agencies and business units. The role also supports the continuous improvement of the program by reviewing monitoring activities and participating in remediation plans. Internal and external business stakeholders are educated on policies and procedures, and trends are monitored to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements.

The role manages and negotiates licensing processes, ensuring applications are completed and submitted timely. Expiration dates are monitored to ensure renewals are processed, and guidance is provided on specific licensing processes. Business solutions are supported by building relationships with key stakeholders, identifying business needs, and recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities.

The Senior Analyst will analyze regulatory changes and assess their potential impacts on business operations, prepare compliance reports, executive summaries, and identify trends, risks, and gaps in compliance practices while recommending improvements. Additionally, they will serve as a key liaison among business units,  and regulatory agencies, work collaboratively with external vendors such as contractors to support permit and license processes, and provide training and guidance to internal teams on regulatory obligations and compliance procedures.

Financial loss prevention is achieved by developing standard operating procedures based on regulations, conducting surveys, and ensuring regulations are followed. The role also involves auditing work processes to ensure all necessary licenses are obtained and maintained, minimizing potential fines and other disciplinary actions.

Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field.

Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of licensing and permitting regulations, municipal by-laws, and compliance requirements relevant to business operations.

Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex regulatory changes, assess operational impacts, and develop actionable recommendations for compliance improvements.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare presentation and reports and effectively liaise with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and external partners.

Project and Systems Experience: Strong project management skills and proficiency in using compliance and workflow systems to track, document, and manage license and permit processes is an asset
