The Specialist, Merchandising manages pricing compliance and integrity across various promotions and events, ensuring that all pricing tactics are executed accurately online and in stores. This role may involve running compliance tests, price audits, and event downloads to facilitate retail changes. The Specialist also investigates and resolves pricing issues, providing clear explanations and suggestions for improvement to merchants.
In collaboration with Category Managers, the Specialist supports assortment planning, merchandise event execution, and advertisement proofing. This includes managing item files, creating and tracking vendor-funded promotions, and maintaining accurate merchandising templates. The role also involves gathering and analyzing data to support merchandising decisions, utilizing various systems and tools.
The Specialist, Merchandising plays a critical role in vendor management, providing training on systems, initiating agreements, and ensuring compliance. This position supports the compliance group on product recalls and addresses merchandising inquiries from stores, facilitating efficient resolution of issues such as stock discrepancies and modular maintenance.
Additionally, the Specialist may work with cross-functional eCommerce teams to optimize vendor content, ensuring seamless integration between brick-and-mortar and online merchandising. This includes content onboarding, facilitating vendor set-ups, and assisting with new item listings to enhance the overall customer experience.
Day to Day in this role:
Pricing & Compliance
Ensure accurate and timely execution of pricing strategies and promotional offers across all sales channels.
Conduct regular audits and compliance tests for price accuracy during events, resets, and seasonal promotions.
Partner with Pricing, Marketing, Replenishment and Compliance teams to maintain pricing compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
Investigate pricing discrepancies and collaborate with merchants and vendors to implement corrective actions.
Assortment & Planning Support
Assist Category Managers in assortment selection and planning, focusing on maximizing value and customer relevance within Infant Furniture.
Coordinate item setup, data validation, and attribute accuracy in internal systems to support merchandise planning and go-to-market timelines.
Manage item and vendor forms, upload promotional offers, and track funding for vendor-sponsored initiatives.
Retail Event Execution
Lead executional support for merchandising events, including advertisement proofing, screen content updates, and coordination of digital assets.
Monitor in-store readiness for modular sets, pricing updates, and signage to ensure flawless execution at the store level.
Vendor Relations & Content Management
Support vendors by guiding them through item onboarding, system usage, and compliance expectations.
Collaborate with eCommerce and Site Merchandising teams to optimize content, enhance item visibility, and improve the digital customer experience.
Facilitate the launch of new items through vendor set-up, attribution completion, and quality checks on online listings.
Store & Merchant Collaboration
Address store-level inquiries related to inventory, modular execution, and item availability.
Communicate with merchants regarding stock challenges, pricing issues, and product lifecycle decisions.
Support recall coordination and follow-ups with the Compliance team to maintain customer safety and legal adherence.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education required; business, retail, or merchandising focus preferred.
- 1–2 years of relevant merchandising, retail, or eCommerce experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret research and market data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and time management capabilities.
